Bow your Head, Take a Knee  /  Posted 08/01/10

By Lynn

It was one of those moments that just happened and I had the privilege to witness. An unfortunate incident occurred when a rodeo contestant was injured. These cowboys were standing at the fence for their next event. One by one, they took a knee and bowed their head. It was refreshing to see that not one them cared what anyone thought, for them they turned to their spiritual strength to pray for a good outcome. Their prayers were answered. This positive image reminds me, 'to thine own self be true'!

Canadian Housewives of Harris County  /  Posted 07/07/10

By Nelly

Wonderful, wonderful friends...Cindy has felt blessed beyond words by the outpouring of love and support from these women. They organized last fall as a group of women from the Houston, TX area. They had all been transferred as a result of their husbands' jobs. They decided they should meet once a week for coffee and to support each other. Their husbands' jobs often took them out of town so this was just what they needed! Barely having started the club, Cindy found herself in a life-threatening situation and thousands of miles from her home near Calgary, Alberta. The women rallied every week to bring in food, pick her up for outings when her chemo treatments left her feeling exhausted and most of all to be with her weekly for the last 9 months to laugh, cry, pray and keep spirits soaring high. It has paid off--Cindy received tests back following her surgery that left the docs 'stunned'--her tumor had shrunk to an unbelievable size! Women's Empowerment in comes in so many version.. Take Time to Play  /  Posted 04/09/10

By jantess

Yesterday was a wonderful day for 5 of my friends--and I wasn't there to enjoy it. :( I happened to call my girlfriend on the phone and she and 4 of our friends were heading for lunch, antique shopping and basking in BLUEBONNETS! I am so jealous! I know the value of friendships and making time to share time with women you love--Women's Empowerment. This is the BEST time in Texas as the Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush are in full bloom. What appears is 5 women having a great time and that is so true. As is often the case what you don't see are the challenges that they and many of us share on the inside--loss of jobs, treatments for cancer, death of family members--LIFE--everyone has their own journeys. However, on this day basked in God's beauty women's empowerment was seen and felt; given and received. I am so thankful for all the women who have empowered and encouraged me and who leave me feeling that I am the luckiest woman in the world!!

Bridge Club Plays for a Purpose  /  Posted 03/31/10

By Nelly

Four couples who have played bridge together for nearly 20 years recently found a source for their winnings. They agreed that the money won during their games would be put in a pot for a good cause. When they all took a vacation together they took their 'pot of money' and bought many items for school children in the local village. Puzzles, books, crayons, etc. were distributed to the learning center in Chacala MX. It is amazing how much a small amount of money can impact a low income population--and what a great sense of satisfaction for these 8 adults! Thanks for 'Passing it On'--you made a difference!
