Markus Buckingham--Free Webinar!!

Ladies, this is a great opportunity.  & Janell and friends had the opportunity to see him in person and he is very dynamic!  We would strongly recommend his book.  We are passing this info on to our PEP women because we believe his concept is so positive and so encouraging--with a very interesting perspective that many of you may not have thought of before.  Here is the info:

We were so thrilled with the “strong” reaction you had to Marcus Buckingham at the Conference. Many of you, we know, couldn’t get into his breakout session, so we want to offer everyone the exclusive opportunity to dive deeper with Marcus into this message. He’s offering us a solution with a weekly webinar series. The series will be practical, interactive, and best of all, Marcus has agreed to do it for FREE. To participate, you will need a copy of his book Find Your Strongest Life, which we are pleased to offer you exclusively (and for a limited time) at a 40% discount through 800ceoread. Information on the exact dates of the webinar are still being determined and will be provided soon. We hope you’ll take advantage of this wonderful opportunity Marcus has been so gracious to extend to the TX Conference for Women.  We believe women like you will help start a revolution of change globally living happier, stronger lives and we know this is one step in the right direction.

PEP Gatherings

Women coming together to share ideas, network and encourage other women—that is what is happening in homes, coffee shops, book stores, hair salons, etc.  PEP online is a great easy way to connect with other women.  However, nothing is as good as sitting down with a glass of wine or coffee and sharing face-to-face conversations.  PEP is hosting some gatherings, others are being organized by women getting together for a variety of reasons—all with one purpose, to have women empower women.  Be sure to let us know, so that PEP can feature your women’s group on our website.  One thing we have discovered is that at every gathering, positive women breed encouragement and women come away feeling the “E-Energy” (Empowering Energy).

Inspired Recipes from Nebraska

Here is a wonderful idea for the women on your Christmas List. It helps support not only the improvement of the Governor’s Residence but to also educate all Nebraska children in the 4th grade. As Nebraska’s First Lady, I am a passionate supporter of the Friends of the Governor’s Residence, which is raising funds via sales of the collaborative cookbook, Inspired Recipes from Nebraska, and donations. Funds will be used for educational materials about the Governor’s Residence and for its continued updating. The cookbook gives you so much more than personal recipes from Nebraska’s current and former first families; past and serving state senators, and many other Nebraskans. Photos of the Residence and interesting tales of living there are interwoven with the recipes, and contributor’s stories accompany many recipes. Former Governor Mike Johanns was actually a night time refrigerator bandit!

Texas Women’s Conference, Nutcracker Market, and Women of Faith Conference

What do all of these have in common?  They were all activities where women gathered to be informed, share conversations, network and mentor—and they ALL took place the second weekend of November in Houston, Texas.  The energy was contagious.  The atmosphere was positive and most of all; the level of women’s empowerment must have been at 99.9%.  As a general rule, women thrive when they interact with other women.  We all know that in our dreams, we often think about what we would like to do someday.  The passions that we would like to pursue!  Then we are with a group of women and we hear a speaker offer words of encouragement or give steps to take to make that dream take flight.  We sit next to someone who encourages us to ‘go for it’ and suddenly we FEEL the power inside and we HEAR the voice that says, “I can do what other women have done”!

Hundreds of ideas circling in our heads—that’s what we call empowerment.  Whether it is a business to pursue; an undated resume to write for a more fulfilling job; a spiritual journey that’s been lacking; or a fabulous bargain that you found at the ‘market’, it is important to realize that the information you gathered now needs an ‘action plan’.

Find resources that will provide more information, start to write down your ideas, tell others about your plan and make those “Dreams Grow Wings”.  PEP-Perspectives is a great place to start. You are sure to find like-minded women who can offer some tips and positive encouragement!  Join PEP and tell your story!

Volunteers Organize "Chuck Wagon" Benefit

Over 200 people in Kearney, NE attended a “Chuck Wagon” themed event for Janelle, a member of their community.  Various women organized the event.  Some were elementary teachers with whom she had taught for nearly 30 years; others were members of her college Alpha Phi Sorority from the early 70’s; others came from clubs and organizations to which she had belonged.  All came together for one purpose—to help ease the financial burden of continued medical treatment and most of all to give back to Janelle, who had always been the ‘giver’.

The family’s world turned upside down in February when she suffered paralysis on her left side, loss of some speech and various other complications after a brain aneurysm.  Give women a purpose that they are passionate about and the yields are staggering--$10,000-$14,000 was raised that evening.  The connections and networking that had taken place over the years came together as they organized an event for the entire community to give back to the family.  Women’s Empowerment may not be clearly visible every day, but be assured, once a woman lights a spark—it often ignites many friends and family to take action!!  You women are FABULOUS.  A BIG Thanks to everyone who participated.  Janelle was able to take a ‘leave’ for a few hours from her rehab hospital in order to experience the event and to feel the support from the community.

Check out her very own website @ www.caringbridge.org/visit/janellestadler.  She often visits this site and with the help of her therapists she is able to communicate via the internet.  She has had over 18,000 visits from family and friends.  She looks forward to reading the daily messages that people write to her.  Reach out and give her some moral support!

Behind Every Great Event is a Great Woman

PEP wants to congratulate the Women’s Ball Committee for all of their volunteer efforts in creating the largest fundraiser event ever for Ak-Sar-Ben projects.   These women have worked for months to put together many festivities that generate funds that benefit the state of Nebraska.  They give 50 scholarships to disadvantaged college students; they assist local communities in many projects; they honor citizens who have volunteered and contributed to the communities; and they recognize professionals who have positively impacted Nebraska.  Way to go, committee members, your unselfish time and talents has not only benefited these great causes, but has also increased Women’s Empowerment.  The entire committee works together and on that “Saturday night in October”, you get to stand back and say—WOW—look what teamwork and  ‘women with a mission’ can accomplish.  You are an inspiration to women to find something that sparks their passion, become active and then enjoy the sense of pride.  Job well done!!
